Are you thinking of retiring? If you already have 800 weeks of contributions, it is possible

Starting this year, workers who plan to start their retirement process must have at least 800 weeks of listing and be 60 years old to access the retirement pension at an advanced age and 65 years old for old age.

It should be noted that with the reform to the pension system that came into effect in 2021, the requirement of minimum weeks requested will be modified year after year until it reaches 1,000 in 2030.

Aspects to consider

According to the National Commission of the Retirement Savings System (consar) to start the pension process in any of the cases it is important that you first take into account the following points:

1. Proof of weeks quoted. The first thing is to request said proof before the Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS), with the main purpose of confirming that the applicant already has the minimum time to access their resources (800 weeks in 2023). To obtain the certificate, it can be done online through the page https://www.imss.gob.mx/pensiones or go in person to an IMSS subdelegation in both cases it is necessary to have on hand: CURP, Number Social Security (NSS) and email.
2. Update or correct personal data. The data in the Afore account identifies you as the owner of the retirement savings that you accumulated during your working life and also helps the Administrator to keep in touch with you. What data should be reviewed? Name, CURP, RFC, IMSS Social Security number (if applicable), address, contact information (telephone numbers and email). In the event of an error or that any data must be updated, it is necessary to ask the Afore to make the corresponding modifications by submitting a request to correct or update the data. Depending on the type of correction, official identification and some other document requested must be presented.
3. Have the account statement handy. As well as the proof of balances and the detail of movements, the statement of account is a document that accredits you as the owner of the resources that you have invested in the Retirement Savings System, in addition to being required for the different procedures that are can be carried out before the Afores, the social security institutes and the housing institutes. It should be noted that by law the Afores must send account statements at least three times a year to the address or email address indicated by the workers, who can request additional account statements at any time. In the event that the worker does not receive the account statement from her at the address or in the email that has been indicated or the Afore does not attend to her request, she can do so to the knowledge of the driving in order to require the corresponding shipment to the administrator.
4. Integrate Single Electronic File. It is a digital file that is stored in electronic media in which your data, documents, and biometric elements (fingerprints and facial biometrics) are combined. The Unique Electronic File is necessary to carry out any procedure.
5. Contact your Afore. You must go directly to the branch of the Afore that manages your Individual Account so that the Administrator’s staff can assist the Employee in submitting the application for the pension process.
