Buenos Aires, Aug 8 (.).- The business chambers of the fishing sector in Argentina agreed this Monday with the Government of Alberto Fernández to liquidate foreign exchange for exports for an amount of 300 million dollars, which will contribute to strengthening the reserves of the South American country .
The agreement was reached in a meeting this Monday between the Secretary of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries of Argentina, Juan José Bahillo, and representatives of seven employers from the fishing sector and the companies Arbumasa, Newsan, Cafrexport, Estremar, Argenova and Pesquera. Wanted.
“This is very important for the government, it speaks highly of the sector and the commitment it has with the country,” Bahillo said in a statement released by the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries.
Last Wednesday, after taking office as the new Argentine Economy Minister, Sergio Massa, he had anticipated in a press conference that, with a view to strengthening monetary reserves, agreements would be sought with the fishing, agricultural and mining sectors to liquidate exports in the next 60 days for 5,000 million dollars.
According to the agreement signed last March between Argentina and the International Monetary Fund, among other goals, the Central Bank must add 5.8 billion dollars to its monetary reserves this year.
The monetary reserves of the Central Bank closed this Monday at 37,155 million dollars, 2,507 million less than at the end of 2021.
