It has been claimed that Marseille are also in for him come January, while Porto – in a bid to keep their star man on their books – may also offer him a lucrative new contract to ward off potential suitors.
The midfielder rose through the Porto academy to make his first-team debut at the end of last season, and is already widely regarded to be one of the finest young players in Portuguese football.
An Under-21 international for his country, Arsenal are said to have been watching him for some time and are now ready to swoop for his signature.
