(Trends Wide) — If you’re thinking of running the New York City Marathon this Sunday, be warned: You could run alongside actor Ashton Kutcher.
Kutcher, 44, will use the marathon as a fundraising opportunity for Thorn, the organization he founded with Demi Moore in 2012 to combat child sex trafficking, he posted on his Instagram account.
The “That ’70s Show” star had raised more than $1,000,000 for the nonprofit as of Saturday, according to a dedicated fundraising website.
Kutcher is part of a team of 100 marathon runners who have pledged to raise money for Thorn, the website says. The organization focuses on the use of technology to identify images of child abuse.
“We need your help,” Kutcher says in a video posted on the website. “Every dollar we raise will go towards building these tools, so that one day, those kids that are out there being abused can have the opportunity to just be kids.”
Kutcher was also associated with the Peloton company. He thanked Peloton coaches Becs Gentry and Alex Toussaint for helping him prepare for the 26.2-mile race.
Kutcher, along with about 50,000 other runners, will run through all five New York City boroughs, starting in Staten Island and ending in Central Park.
And he is not the only celebrity who will participate in the marathon. Actress Ellie Kemper, “Bachelor” star Matt James and former New York Giants running back Tiki Barber have also reported on social media that they will be in the race.
