The Joint Action Coordination for Palestine in Tunisia said yesterday, Saturday, that assassination threats had targeted a number of activists supporting the Palestinian resistance.
The Coordination (independent) said in a statement published on its Facebook page that it “was informed of the security warnings to a group of activists from the Tunisian Network to Confront the Normalization System (a coalition of associations) regarding assassination threats.”
She explained that the activists are: Salah al-Din al-Masri (head of the network), Khaled Boujemaa, and Said Bouajla, “due to their activity supporting and backing the resistance, and their rejection of the dominance of the arms of the American enemy and their interference in Tunisia's internal affairs,” she said.
The Coordination Committee announced its “absolute solidarity with those who are being threatened, and its salute to all our people who continue to support the various resistance and support fronts.”
She added, “This threat extends to all activists who support the resistance, and we affirm that our lives will not be more important or more valuable than the lives of our people in Palestine, Lebanon, and Yemen, or than their martyrs on the fronts of resistance and support.”
Efficiency of movements
She considered that “these threats confirm the effectiveness of the various movements that hurt the Zionist enemy (Israel) and its supporters.” She held “the authority in Tunisia responsible for the safety of all those who confront the Zionist enemy and its supporters, and called on it to deal seriously with this file.”
The coordination demanded “publishing the details of these threats and informing the public of the steps that will be taken in response to them, which affect Tunisians on their land,” according to the statement.
On a weekly basis, the “Tunisian Network to Confront the Normalization System” carries out protests and marches on Habib Bourguiba Avenue (the main street in the capital, Tunis) and in front of the US Embassy, to “demand an end to the aggression on Gaza and the expulsion of the US Ambassador (Joey Hood) from their country in denunciation of US support for Israel and criminalization of normalization.”
Many Tunisian cities, including the capital, are witnessing solidarity stands with the Gaza Strip, in which participants called for an end to the Israeli war on the besieged Strip since 2006, and for aid to be allowed in.
With American support, Israel waged a devastating war on Gaza, leaving more than 132,000 dead and wounded, most of them children and women, and more than 10,000 missing, amid massive destruction and deadly famine.
In contempt of the international community, Israel continues the war, ignoring the UN Security Council resolution calling for an immediate halt, and the International Court of Justice’s orders to take measures to prevent acts of genocide and to improve the catastrophic humanitarian situation in Gaza.
