Atlanta Hawks’ Dejounte Murray is SUSPENDED for Game 5 vs. Boston Celtics after ‘making inappropriate contact with and verbally abusing an official’ following Sunday’s home loss
Dejounte Murray will miss Atlanta Hawks’ next matchup with the Boston Celtics after being handed a one-game suspension for making contact with an official following Sunday night’s home defeat.
Murray and Co. were beaten 129-121 by the Celtics in Game 4 of their playoff series.
The 26-year-old guard was visibly unhappy at the end of the game with footage capturing Murray yelling and making contact with a referee after the loss.
His behavior was investigated by the NBA and now he has been punished.
Murray’s season could well now be over as the Hawks sit on the verge of elimination with the Celtics 3-1 up in the series heading into Tuesday night’s Game 5.

The league banned Murray Monday for ‘making inappropriate contact with and verbally abusing a game official.’
The clip shows Murray moving towards referee Gediminas Petraitis and saying something before bumping into him.
Murray can then be seen turning back, pointing and shouting as he walked off with two individuals intervening and trying to usher him off the court.
His one-game suspension comes as no surprise with league rules stating: ‘Any player or coach guilty of intentional physical contact with an official shall automatically be suspended without pay for one game.’
Celtics’ Grant Williams was handed a one-game ban after making contact with an official following his side’s loss to the Chicago Bulls earlier this season.
