The Atlanta Hwks are one of the most disappointing teams this season. After finishing fifth in the East and playing the Conference Finals last year, Nate McMillan’s men are staying in twelfth place with a poor 16-20. Weeks go by and the team is unable to set course despite having a great version of their star, Trae Young. Smeared with a proclaimed lack of motivation, Travis Schlenk has made it clear that he will try to make moves in the face of the market close. «There are a few weeks left until the transfer market closes. I have to think about it » declares for the antennas of a local radio.
The words of the GM of the Hawks were not there, as he was going to be especially lapidary. «It is my responsibility to put players who can win on the field. And right now I have doubts that I have succeeded. Maybe it would not be a good idea to renew everyone », he sentenced. Schlenck was particularly frustrated at having bet on the continuity of the nucleus. “We have seen that these players are capable of winning. Seeing that the group does not make enough efforts to win games is frustrating. Perhaps I should have kept my expectations lower of them.
Just yesterday Trae Young and some other player complained about the poor defensive performance of the team and Schlenk was not going to be less. “There is no sense of urgency in defense. I don’t see any responsibility when it comes to stopping the rival. Rarely do you see more direct attacks than this by a manager, who may be seeking to spur his troops in some way. The truth is that, warning or not, if the Hawks continue to perpetrate their current dynamic, they are going to be quite a different team in March.
