The Mexican unit of the German automotive company Audi and the company union agreed to a 9.4% salary increase for this year in the renegotiation of the collective contract, avoiding a strike scheduled for this Wednesday.
The union and Audi have been in a tug-of-war for several weeks in which the workers were about to stop activities, until Tuesday night they announced that they had reached a consensus regarding the salary increase.
In a statement, the labor authorities reported that the salary increase prevented workers from going on strike. more than 5,700 employees who work at the Audi plant located in San José Chiapa, in the state of Puebla.
