Millions of Australians have been warned to brace for severe thunderstorms that could cause flash flooding, large hailstones and damaging winds.
The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a severe weather warning for southern New South Wales and northeast Victoria from midnight tonight to until tomorrow.
Towns such as Wagga Wagga, Albury and Griffith have been warned of severe thunderstorms while Sydney, Canberra, Wollongong and the NSW South Coast also face the possibility of thunderstorms on Friday.

BoM meteorologist Stephen Marramore said a ‘severe, deep low pressure system south of South Australia’ is bringing moisture to parts of NSW and Victoria.
‘The low is going to combine with moisture to bring thunderstorms and rain to Victoria and widespread thunderstorms stretching up to southwest Queensland,’ he told Daily Mail Australia.
A severe thunderstorm warning has also been issued for the Mid North Coast, Hunter and North West Slopes and Plains for Thursday night.
Sydney is forecast for a mostly sunny day with a max of 29C on Friday before there is a shower of two and possible storm on Saturday.
Sunday is also forecast for possible showers while Monday should see rain ease of to a shower or two in Sydney.
Canberra is also within the warning zone and forecast for a shower or two on Thursday and Friday followed by more showers and a possible storm on Saturday.

Meanwhile in Victoria, people in Melbourne, Geelong, Ballarat, Bendigo and Wodonga have been warned of developing rain and storms on Friday.
A flood watch warning was also issued for North East Victoria with 40-70mm rain expected to cause minor to moderate flooding overnight Friday into Saturday.
After rain develops on Friday, Melburnians will face cloudy weather on Saturday before a shower or two arrives on Sunday.
While the rest of the country experiences rain, only Queensland’s east coast will be spared.
Brisbane is partly cloudy from Thursday to Sunday with the temperature expected to creep up from 29C to 33C during this period.
A shower or two is forecast for Brisbane on Monday.
Despite cloudy skies, the UV index will be extreme from 12 to 13 and sun protection is recommended.
‘There will also be rain in southwest Queensland, which is also connected to the low in the Great Australian bite moving across eastern Australia,’ Mr Marramore said.

Showers are already developing in Adelaide with showers forecast on Friday and Saturday before partly cloudy weather arrives on Sunday.
On the west coast, Perth is forecast for sunny weather on Friday and a max of 28C before rain develops on Saturday.
‘A tropical low over the Gascoyne that is bringing heavy rainfall is going to move south on Friday and on the weekend, possibly impacting Perth on Sunday,’ Mr Marramore said.
There are severe weather and flood warnings for northern parts of Tasmania, including Launceston from Friday afternoon to Saturday morning.
Hobart is already experiencing showers and forecast for more rain on Friday and Saturday before cloudy weather prevails on Sunday.
Lastly, tropical Darwin is forecast for showers and possible storms and a maximum of 31C from Friday to Monday.
