Some agreed with her, saying they thought it was bizarre the toy was placed in the children’s aisle but many insisted she needed to ‘lighten’ up.
‘I feel like it should be in the adult’s Kris Kringle section as a joke type thing… a bit strange to be in the kids section,’ one woman wrote.
A second said: ‘I can understand where it can be seen as inappropriate however the section is toys/recreation. Although it has lots of fun things for kids, it’s not entirely aimed at children.’
A third added: ‘It doesn’t come with marriage. It’s just a toy, not sexual at all. They have pregnant dolls for kids, is that inappropriate too? You’re thinking too much into it.’
There are similar toys sold – including this ‘grow a girlfriend’ and ‘grow a boyfriend’
A mother who has four daughters said she didn’t ‘see the problem in this’, while another woman insisted: ‘It’s funny, nothing more.’
Others said the toys are perfect for stocking fillers for family, friends and colleagues.
‘This is perfect for my brother-in-law,’ one woman wrote, while another added: ‘We use them for Secret Santa gifts every year.’
