An Australian woman has left the internet in stitches after she suffered a tanning mishap the day before her school formal.
Hayley, now aged 19, wanted a sun-kissed glow but she was filmed walking out of a tanning salon looking very deeply bronzed.
‘My formal was the next day,’ she wrote in the caption.
The amused teen initially shared a TikTok video of organic fake tan fails in November last year – but her footage has been doing the rounds after her friend Becky re-shared it.

Many asked whether the tan was done professionally at a salon, to which Hayley responded: ‘Yes’
‘Bringing this back because I can’t deal,’ Becky wrote in the caption of her now-viral video, which has since been viewed more than 1.6 million times.
Hundreds of people commented on the video, with many asking whether the tan was done professionally at a salon, to which Hayley responded: ‘Yes’.
Dozens of people insisted she looked ‘grey’ while others referenced Ross from Friends after his fake tan disaster when he failed to follow the ‘simple’ instructions.
‘That Friends episode when Ross doesn’t know which way to turn,’ one wrote, while another said: ‘That’s not even brown, that’s grey.’
A third wrote: ‘Girl, get your money back. They turned you into the Tin Man,’ while another added: ‘Babe, you were the same colour as the fridge.’
Her friend Becky responded to the influx of comments, saying: ‘She washed it off within the first hour… pretty much straight away and had to do a layer of Bondi Sands to get rid of the grey tones.’

Many were confused over the dark shade, with one saying: ‘How can the tanning salon let her look like that.’
But others explained how it’s common to leave a salon in a dark shade before most of it gets rinsed off. The colour of the fake tan would start to develop and it will get darker throughout the day.
‘I guess none of you have gotten a spray tan before. You have to wait eight hours before you rinse it off and you look like that while it dries,’ one woman said.
When an organic fake tan is applied correctly, it’s possible to achieve a natural, sun-kissed glow.
Despite the baffled remarks, dozens of people saw the funny side to her fake tan fail.
