Thousands of Austrians demonstrated in the center of the capital, Vienna, to protest against the restrictions imposed by the government, which aim to combat the Corona virus.
And the local police announced that some had been arrested at the end of the demonstration, after clashes with them.
Most of the participants in the demonstration were not obliged to wear masks or distance themselves, as they walked through the city center towards Prater Park.
The measures were eased in Austria last February with the opening of schools, shops and museums, but demonstrators are protesting against measures that are still in effect, such as the closure of restaurants and cafes.
In a speech to the demonstrators, former FPÖ Interior Minister Herbert Kickel accused the government of pursuing a “crazy, weird” policy.
Demonstrations against the restrictions and their economic impact have increased in recent months in the country, and the government has not ruled out further easing measures, provided the number of HIV infections decreases.
