Bancomext ignores the union agreement and evicts the independent union from its premises

Disregarding any union agreement, the director of the Banco de Comercio Exterior (Bancomext), Luis Antonio Ramírez, evicted the Single and Democratic National Union of Workers of the National Foreign Trade Bank (Sinudet-Bancomext) from their union premises.

This was denounced by the Secretary General, Fernando Salazar, who explained that they have launched a battle to enforce respect for the workers rightsTherefore, he argues, there is a profound violation of labor legislation, as well as international agreements, and the official document granting the power to occupy the union premises was simply not considered.

“The Bancomext authorities made the decision to prevent access to the union representatives, the elements monitoring the access to the parking lot told us that there were instructions in the sense that the members of the National Executive Committee of the Sinudet-Bancomext, we could not enter the institutional facilities. We have been informed that such dispossession measure was authorized by the H. Bancomext Board of Directors”, said Salazar.

According to the union organization, this act is about “arbitrary and extrajudicial dispossession that contravenes articles: 1, 14, 16 and 133 of the Political Constitution of the United Mexican States.”

It should be noted that the union office is a labor benefit used since the birth of the union (40 years ago) and currently, its occupation and use are covered by a collaboration agreement.

However, Salazar explained that “these facts show the clear conduct of the bank’s general management to also ignore the union representation, imposing a ban on access to the facilities.”

The Sinudet-Bancomext it has launched a battle so that, by all legal means, the rights won by the workers are respected; In addition, this case is added to those suffered by other union organizations whose employer is government entities, such as Notimex and Nacional Financiera.

In this regard, Alfonso Bouzas, coordinator of the Citizen Observatory for Labor Reform, commented that “it is inexplicable that parastatal and social service organizations have in their leadership characters who not only ignore the reforms in terms of trade union freedom and democracy, but also stop take into account regulatory provisions in force since 1917”.

Meanwhile, the National Federation of Development Bank Unions (FENABAD) presented a document, narrating what happened and confirmed by Paulina Monero, Head of the Administration and Finance Unit, after stating that the decision was irrevocable, to the president of the Work Commission of the Chamber of Senators, in order to take the corresponding actions.
