(Trends Wide) — Former President Barack Obama fulfilled one of his annual traditions on Friday, posting a list of his 2022 favorites that includes books and movies.
“I always look forward to sharing my favorite book, movie, and music lists with you all,” tweeted Obama. “First of all, here are some of the books I’ve read and enjoyed this year. Tell me which books I should read in 2023.”
Among his favorite written works, Obama listed Jessamine Chan’s “The School for Good Mothers” and former first lady Michelle Obama’s “The Light We Carry,” noting, “I’m a little biased on this one.”
In his list of favorite films, the former president included “Top Gun: Maverick” and “Descendant”, about which he also pointed out that he was “biased” since the Netflix documentary was produced by the company Higher Ground Productions, founded by Obama.
“I’ve seen great movies this year – here are some of my favourites. What have I missed?” Obama wrote in another tweet.
Social media users were quick to point out that Obama had left one of the highest grossing movies of the year off the list: “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.” The Marvel blockbuster and sequel to 2018’s “Black Panther” has ranked second behind “Top Gun: Maverick” in grossing this year, with more than $421 million domestic box office since its November opening , according to Box Office Mojo. “Black Panther” made Obama’s list of favorite movies in 2018.
