Former President Barack Obama gained the “Exceptional Narrator” Emmy on Saturday for his narration on the Netflix documentary sequence “Our Great National Parks.”
The award would make Obama the second US president in record to win an Emmy, and the to start with to acquire in a competitive category. (Former President Dwight Eisenhower was awarded the honorary “Governors Award” in 1956.)
It also inches Obama nearer to prestigious EGOT position — an acronym employed to explain the accomplishment of obtaining gained an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar, and a Tony. To date, only 17 individuals have attained this.
Obama has previously received two Grammy Awards in the “Most effective Spoken Word Album” class for the audiobook readings of his memoirs, “The Audacity of Hope” and “A Promised Land.”

The previous president beat out David Attenborough, Lupita Nyong’o, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and W. Kamau Bell to gain the Emmy for “Our Great Countrywide Parks.”
The collection was made by Greater Floor, the creation organization started by Obama and former 1st woman Michelle Obama. It “shines the highlight on some of the planet’s most stunning nationwide parks,” per Netflix’s description of the collection.

The series is also nominated for an Emmy in the “Fantastic Cinematography For A Nonfiction System” classification..
