Battlefield Studios has detailed a roadmap of significant updates for Battlefield 6, outlining key changes to performance and gameplay ahead of the game’s first season and the anticipated launch of its battle royale mode.
In a recent social media post, the development team confirmed its immediate priority is to refine the core combat experience and overall stability. Planned adjustments will target weapon dispersion, balance, visibility, aim assist, and player progression, with updates scheduled to roll out during Season 1.
An update is already live for the Custom Search feature, designed to more accurately match players with their selected map and mode preferences. The studio noted that while the system allows for flexibility to maintain reasonable queue times, players with more specific search criteria may experience slightly longer waits.
The developers also addressed a recent fix for an issue that caused vehicles to fail to spawn correctly on certain maps. This patch has reportedly reduced the problem’s frequency and improved balance in some modes, though a few outstanding issues are still being worked on.
Core gameplay mechanics are slated for an overhaul. Player movement will be refined to feel more consistent without altering the fundamental pace of the game. To create a smoother and more precise aiming experience, the team is enhancing sight stability by minimizing reticle movement during certain animations. Visibility is also being addressed with adjustments to exposure and brightness, which will correct issues with blinding light when looking outdoors and overly dark interiors.
Weapon handling is a major focus, with several changes to dispersion coming in the Season 1 update on October 28. The goal is to ensure each weapon’s accuracy better reflects its intended performance over distance. The team has also fixed a bug that prevented dispersion from decreasing properly when transitioning from a sprint to a prone position. Further tuning will address bugs that incorrectly reduced accuracy after sprinting while zoomed or during minor movements.
Player progression systems are also being reworked. Following feedback, the team is overhauling in-game challenges to make their objectives clearer and faster to complete. Examples include reducing the “Assault 1” assignment from 30 kills to 3 and lowering the “Deadeye 2” headshot requirement from 150 kills to 5.
Regarding specific modes, Battlefield Portal recently received XP adjustments to curb farming, while Battlefield Labs will take a brief hiatus to allow the team to focus on the Season 1 rollout.
Finally, the studio revealed changes for the upcoming battle royale mode based on player feedback, including:
*   An adjusted time-to-kill at close range to give players more time to counter attacks.
*   A new armor system where all players spawn with one armor plate and have a two-plate carrying capacity.
*   Environmental optimizations, bug fixes, and improved lighting and visibility across the map.
*   Rebalanced helicopters and combat vehicles to keep them powerful but not essential for winning a match.
