A mother and daughter won the beauty pageant title in their hometown, 29 years apart, as young Marion Edwards of Wrexham followed in the footsteps of her 48-year-old mother Anna, Wrexham Maylor, who won the title in 1992.

The 22-year-old has now been crowned Miss Wrexham Galaxy nearly three decades after her mother qualified for the final of Miss Galaxy, UK.

But the irony is that the young girl was unaware of her mother’s past, before she found old scraps, according to a report published on the Daily Mail website, and thus the young Marion gets a chance to represent her hometown in the kingdom’s beauty contest.

Marion will now compete against dozens of hopefuls in the Miss UK title final, which is due to take place at the Park Hall Hotel, Preston, Lancashire, this November..

Marion, the university graduate, said: “I was browsing through some old drawers during closing and found all these local newspaper clippings of my mom... I couldn’t believe it because she never mentioned to us that she won the Miss Township title in 1992.”

She added, “She looked very beautiful and made me feel proud so that inspired me to go and enter into something similar,” noting that the beauty pageant no longer exists in her town, which prompted her to search with others to organize a contest. Miss Galaxy.

And she continued: “I sent my application and my pictures, thinking I would not hear back, and I was amazed when they called again..“
