While it may look just like any other small weatherboard cottage at first glance, behind the pastel pink door of this home lies an unbelievable getaway unlike any other in Australia.
Dubbed the ‘Sweet Retreat’, the unusual house in Daylesford, an hour and a half north-west of Melbourne, is a ‘candy-inspired wonderland’ complete with four quirky bedrooms and two bathrooms inspired by Australia’s favourite sweet snacks.
The home is designed by the owners of Sugar Republic, a candy museum known for its immersive displays and owner Allison Jones carries the same sense of fun through every room.
Available on airbnb and perfect for a weekend getaway or country holiday the unusual home delivers rooms filled with neon lights, eye-popping decor, a giant ball pit beside the main bed and scratch ‘n’ sniff wall paper modelled after a banana-scented feature in Elton John’s home.

The rainbow room is aptly decorated to reflect its name – with colourful streamers and bright bedding whilst the dressing table in the master bedroom is decorated with reflective pouts
The peach room is where the ball pit is – the unusual bedroom feature is said to be a hit for children as well as adults
The dining room is decorated with a giant rainbow Paddle Pop and flows into the kitchen which is bubblegum pink and features a lemonade stand.
With lollies, retro board games, books and DVDs on tap – the sweet offerings don’t end with the delicious decor.
Each of the four bedroom has a theme – the master bedroom is called the ‘sweet love’ room – and is complete with a neon light which reads ‘Gimme Some Sugar’ and rests above the bedhead.
The bedroom is the only one in the house with an ensuite – and the small bathroom carries on the moody vibe as a disco room.

The dining area, which runs from the kitchen is decorated with vintage metal signs from milk bars and old corner stores

The rainbow room comes with a wall of streamers and brightly covered artwork.
But perhaps the most popular room is the peach room – which has a ball pit ‘for the kids’.
The counter at the kitchen seats four on beautifully styled highchairs – the massive paddle-pop decoration packs a punch
The house glows at night – with the hues of the neon lamps which fill many of the rooms
This special cherry wallpaper is scratch and sniff – and is sure to make you feel like you’re in a lolly store
Disco balls and a neon ice cream light make the otherwise standard ensuite an exciting room
The bathroom doesn’t have the same impact as many of the other rooms – however the same shade of pink is carried through for effect. The giant neon icecream lights up the ensuite bathroom – leaving a unique purple glow
From the outside of the home it is hard to imagine the crazy colour scheme which lies within
Guests staying at the property admitted the children loved the pit but ‘not as much as us adults did’.
The final room comes complete with four giant Iced VoVo’s which almost look real enough to eat.
The stunning home isn’t for everyone though, the host does not allowed pets, people who smoke or parties at the property, and it is not accessible to people with wheel chairs.
A stay at the property will set you back between $450 and $650 per night.
