The embassy said that the United States has harmed multilateral cooperation and the WHO in recent years, and it should not point fingers at China and other countries that have supported the WHO during the Covid-19 pandemic.
In response to a statement issued by US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan, an embassy spokesperson said, “China welcomes Washington’s decision to reconnect with the World Health Organization, but it must adhere to the” highest standards “instead of targeting other countries.
Yesterday, Saturday, Sullivan called on China to make data available from the first days of the outbreak, citing “deep concerns” about the way in which the findings of the World Health Organization’s investigation of the origins of COVID-19 have been communicated.
