The Israeli Minister of National Security threatened the extremist Itamar Ben Gvir To resign from the Israeli government if Israel does not resume its war on Gaza strip After the expected humanitarian truce ends.
The Israeli Minister of National Security said in an interview with the Israeli Channel 14 – yesterday evening, Wednesday – “We heard the Prime Minister (Benjamin Netanyahu) say it frankly: The fighting will resume. But if the war stops, there will be nothing for us to do in the government.”
Ben Gvir, who heads the far-right Jewish Power party, and two other ministers from his party had voted against the temporary humanitarian truce agreement between the Islamic Resistance Movement (agitation) and Israel, which was announced at dawn yesterday, Wednesday.
It is noteworthy that the Israeli Prime Minister pledged yesterday to continue his war on Gaza until achieving “all the goals” that Israel seeks to achieve through the war, which are the return of all Israeli prisoners and detainees to the Palestinian resistance in Gaza, “eliminating the Hamas movement,” and ensuring that the reins of Matters in Gaza will not be in the hands of “those who support terrorism,” as he put it, and to ensure that Gaza “will not pose a future threat to Israel.”
The State of Qatar announced – at dawn on Wednesday – the success of the joint mediation efforts with Egypt and the United States between Israel and the Hamas movement, as it resulted in reaching an agreement on a humanitarian truce in Gaza that will last 4 days and can be extended, with the timing of its start being announced within 24 hours.
The agreement includes the exchange of 50 civilian women and children prisoners in the Gaza Strip in the first phase, in exchange for the release of a number of Palestinian women and children detained in Israeli prisons, provided that the number of those released will be increased in later stages of implementing the agreement.
The truce will also allow the entry of a larger number of humanitarian convoys and relief aid, including fuel designated for humanitarian needs.
The truce was supposed to enter into force on Thursday, but the head of the Israeli National Security Council, Tzachi Hanegbi, said that the release of detainees in the Gaza Strip would not begin before Friday. He stressed that negotiations to release the detainees are continuing and witnessing progress.
For her part, US National Security Council spokeswoman Adrian Watson said that the parties are working on developing the final logistical details of the truce agreement in Gaza, expressing her hope that the implementation of the truce agreement in Gaza will begin tomorrow morning, Friday.
