Bernardo González Rosas will leave Amafore on December 31

The Mexican Association of Afores (Amafore) reported that Bernardo Gonzalez Rosas He will stop presiding over the union of retirement fund administrators (Afores). The last day of González Rosas in charge of Amafore will be December 31 of this year.

The management of Bernardo González Rosas lasted almost four years since he began his administration in January 2019, replacing Carlos Noriega Curtis, who was in charge of Amafore for five years.

In a statement, González Rosas commented that the greatest satisfaction was having been part of the work team headed by Amafore and the Business Coordinating Council (CCE) to promote the most important reform that the retirement savings system has seen in its 25 years of existence.

The still head of Amafore added that the reform to the Social Security Law (LSS), carried out in 2020, results in a financially viable system, but above all, and more importantly, it already grants better pensions for more workers as of 2021.

González Rosas recognized that there is still a lot of work to be done to continue addressing the challenges of workers and contribute positively to an environment of greater well-being and more sustainable.

The general directors of the Afores thanked Bernardo González for his work in these almost four years and announced that in the near future they will announce his successor to allow for an adequate transition.

Parallel to the reform of the LSS, changes were made to the Retirement Savings System Lawwhere the administration of Bernardo González Rosas witnessed how the 0.57% cap on the commission charged by the Afores on the worker’s balance was materialized, which has had an impact on the profits of fund managers in this 2022.

According to Amafore, during the González Rosas period, work was done on three main axes, such as achieving a better knowledge of the relevance of the Afores by the workers.

In addition to working to strengthen the relationship and collaboration of Amafore with key actors for the Retirement Savings System – Amafore was admitted as a member body of the Executive Commission of the CCE–; and, finally, the implementation of investment criteria aligned with Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance (ASG) objectives.
