US President-elect Joe Biden announced the members of his climate team, as well as the Secretary of the Interior and Energy in his administration.
“I am delighted today to announce a team that will lead my administration’s ambitious plan to address the existential threat of our time, which is climate change,” Biden said at a ceremony in Wilmington, Delaware.
He added, “Like their fellow candidates and cabinet appointees, the members of our environment and energy team are wonderful, qualified and experienced and will break barriers.”
US President-elect Michael Reagan, who directs the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality, was chosen as his candidate to lead the Environmental Protection Agency.
He also named environmental attorney Brenda Mallory as his candidate to head the White House Council on Environmental Quality.
He also appointed Gina McCarthy, former head of the Environmental Protection Agency, as a national climate advisor, and climate expert Ali Zaidi as its deputy.
On the other hand, Biden introduced Representative Deb Haaland to the post of Minister of the Interior, and former Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm to the position of Minister of Energy.
