US President Joe Biden called on the military rulers in Myanmar to relinquish power and release the arrested officials and activists.
Biden stressed in his first foreign policy speech on Thursday that force could not be used to annul reliable election results.

Earlier on Thursday, the US National Security Adviser, Jake Sullivan, confirmed that the United States was considering imposing sanctions on military figures and entities due to the military coup in Myanmar.
It is noteworthy that the military led by General Min Aung Hlaing seized power in the country on January 31, declared a one-year state of emergency in Myanmar and arrested the country’s civilian leadership, including the leader of the ruling party Aung San Suu Kyi, in response to what they described as “rigging the election results.”
