US President Joe Biden expressed his happiness that his two dogs, Champ and Major, were able to enter the Oval Office at a time when many people do not have the “privilege” of entering it.
Biden said in a tweet via “Twitter”: “Many people do not have privileges to enter the Oval Office … I am pleased to announce that these two are on the list of permitted entry.”
Biden’s two dogs arrived at the White House on January 24, and are among the first pets to enter the venue since the Obama administration.
Major is a three-year-old German Shepherd, the first dog adopted from an animal shelter and the first rescue dog to reside in the White House. The other dog, Champ, is also a German Shepherd.
And former US President Donald Trump, during his stay in the White House more than 100 years ago, became the first US president to not own a pet.
