The president of United States, Joe Bidentraveled this Sunday to the southern border with Mexico in his first visit since he took office in January 2021, to inspect an entry point in El Paso, Texas, amid debates about illegal immigration and smuggling.
Biden met with uniformed Immigration and Customs Service personnel at the Bridge of the Americas checkpoint, a complex of inspection buildings and fences that separate the two countries.
Agents and officers, including sniffer dog specialists, gave Biden a demonstration of techniques for searching vehicles that cross the border.
