US President Joe Biden said that he would seek to raise the annual maximum number of refugees to 125,000 refugees, in a speech he delivered at the US State Department today, Thursday.
Biden pledged to set an annual ceiling for admission of 125,000 immigrants per year, which is a significant difference from the figure set by former President Donald Trump (only 15,000 annually).
Biden also indicated that he would issue an executive order to restore the US refugee resettlement program, which he said was “severely damaged.”
