The US President, Joe Biden, said that the United States should resort to the use of military force in the global arena only in exceptional cases, pledging not to hesitate to do so when necessary.
Biden said, in a statement made on Wednesday evening during his visit to the Pentagon: “The central and vital mission of the Ministry of Defense is to deter aggression on the part of our enemies, to fight hostilities and win wars so that America remains safe if necessary.”
He continued: “I will never hesitate to use force to protect American interests in all parts of the world … Nevertheless, I believe that resorting to force should be the last option, not the first.”
Informed sources have previously stated that the Biden administration plans to reduce funding for some US weapons programs, including those related to strengthening nuclear arsenals.
