US President Joe Biden will receive his Colombian counterpart, Iván Duque, on March 10 to discuss regional and global issues of “mutual interest,” the White House reported.
The press secretary of the White House, Jen Psaki, explained this Wednesday in a statement that the meeting will serve to commemorate 200 years of “positive diplomatic relations” between the two countries.
Among the different topics to be discussed, explained the spokeswoman, will be the russian aggression on ukraine and regional security, the response to the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as migration in the region.
“It is very significant for Colombia that the President of the United States invites us to this meeting in Washington, at such a challenging moment for humanity,” explained President Duque.
The Colombian president advanced, in a publication on Twitter, who will also talk about the energy transition and the “advances” of the policy of the Temporary Protection Statusannounced last year by the Colombian authorities in favor of Venezuelan migrants in the country.
