Washington, Mar 24 (.).- The President of the United States, Joe Biden, will tour different states of the country together with various members of his government to celebrate the results of his economic policies, the White House announced today.
The president’s first trip will be to Durham, North Carolina, where on Tuesday he will visit the offices of the Wolfspeed semiconductor company, which plans to build a manufacturing plant in the state in which it will invest $5 billion.
Biden will make a second trip at some point during the tour, which will last three weeks, although the destination is not known at the moment.
In addition to the president, members of the Administration such as the vice president, Kamala Harris; the first lady, Jill Biden; Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg; or the Secretary of the Treasury, Janet Yellen, will participate in the initiative by visiting different territories of the country.
One of the main objectives of the tour, indicated a US government official, will be to defend the value for working families of the Democrat’s policies, such as the Inflation Reduction Act, approved in August of last year, which provides for investments worth 370,000 million dollars to accelerate the energy transition.
The rule has been in the crosshairs of Republicans since its passage, with many vowing to repeal it during the November midterm election campaign, in which they took control of the House – Democrats kept the Senate , which at the moment makes it very difficult for conservative congressmen to reverse the law.
According to data from the environmental organization Climate Action Campaign, at least 11,000 million dollars -of the almost one trillion in investments that both the Inflation Reduction Act and the bipartisan Infrastructure Act, approved in 2021- have already been delivered to different projects from all over the country.
In addition to Biden’s visit to North Carolina, Buttigieg will visit Arkansas, Texas and Oklahoma next week to oversee air infrastructure projects, while Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm will travel to Puerto Rico to defend the government’s efforts. to improve the electricity grid.
