Gina Raymondo, Governor of Rhode Island and US President Joe Biden’s candidate for Secretary of Commerce, has pledged to protect US communications networks from Chinese companies such as Huawei and ZTE.
“I will use all the tools at my disposal to the maximum extent possible to protect Americans and our network from Chinese interference or any kind of indirect influence,” Raymondo said in testimony before the US Senate Commerce Committee.
It is reported that the administration of former US President Donald Trump was seeking to get rid of the equipment of Chinese companies for communication networks, considering it a threat to US national security.

Last December, Congress approved the allocation of $ 1.9 billion to fund the replacement of Huawei and ZTE equipment in US networks.
American media reports indicate that the administration of the new president, Joe Biden, does not intend to radically change the attitude towards China, while the White House said that Biden will deal with China “with patience.”
