Bills, Giants, Bengals, 49ers and Jaguars fly to Divisional Round

The divisional round took shape in the absence of the last game between the Cowboys and Buccaneers (Monday Night) in Tampa Bay. Between Saturday and Sunday, five tickets were defined.

Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills opened the season with Super Bowl hopes. The three-time defending AFC East champion Bills avoided a major meltdown by rallying to a 34-31 victory over the AFC’s seventh-seeded Miami Dolphins.

“Week-long seasons, geez. All that matters is to survive and move on. It doesn’t matter how we win, it’s whether we win,” Allen said.

The game was not decided until Buffalo’s defense, which forced six punts and two turnovers, stopped Miami when it turned the ball over on chances on its final possession. It was a game that lasted nearly four hours between two division rivals, and the result was fitting after the two teams split their regular-season series into games decided by a combined five points. The Dolphins beat Buffalo 21-19 in Miami in September, and the Bills rebounded to beat Miami 32-29 last month.

Allen was 23 of 39 for 352 yards and three TDs, but also threw two interceptions, resulting in the Dolphins scoring 11 points. The Dolphins extended their playoff losing streak to five. Miami’s most recent postseason victory was a 23-17 overtime victory over Indianapolis on December 30, 2000 in the wild card round.
