BLACKPINK’s JISOO has announced an upcoming duet with former One Direction member Zayn Malik.
The K-pop star first teased the collaboration on social media with a mysterious image featuring a male silhouette behind her, overlaid with the word “EYESCLOSED” and captioned, “A duet is near.” A second post brought the shadowed figure into closer view, promising, “two voices, one orbit. coming soon.”
Speculation about a project between the two artists began after Zayn attended BLACKPINK’s New York concert with his daughter, Khai, on July 27. After the show, he shared a photo from the audience with the caption: “@BLACKPINKOFFICIAL THANK YOU 🙂 ME & KHAI LOVED IT.”
This duet will be JISOO’s first new music since her solo EP Amortage, released in February, which featured the tracks “Earthquake,” “Your Love,” and “Hugs & Kisses.”
JISOO is currently on BLACKPINK’s Deadline world tour, which started in Seoul in July. After a brief break following the group’s London shows in August, the tour is scheduled to resume in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, on October 18.
