The US Secretary of State, Anthony Blinken, affirmed the US commitment to multilateral cooperation with the United Nations, in a call he held Thursday with the Secretary-General of the Organization, Antonio Guterres.
Blinken expressed the interest of the United States in close coordination with the United Nations regarding several challenges facing the world, from the Corona virus crisis to issues of climate change.
The two sides touched upon the Syrian file, and affirmed their commitment to the political process in light of UN Security Council Resolution 2254.
The two sides also stressed the extension of the mandate to provide aid across the border, and to help alleviate the suffering of the Syrian people.
On the Ethiopian issue, the two sides affirmed their commitment to support Ethiopian efforts in responding to the ongoing crisis in Tigray.
