Blinken’s remarks came during a bilateral meeting, with his Japanese counterpart Toshimitsu Motegi in Tokyo, saying that his visit aims to reaffirm the alliance between the United States and Japan.
Earlier, a senior US administration official told Reuters that North Korea had ignored the Biden administration’s attempts to launch secret communications with it through channels, including the Pyongyang mission at the United Nations.
For its part, South Korea announced, on Monday, that the United States had consulted with it before trying to communicate with the North.
