Bloomberg, citing informed sources, reported that the deployment of the National Guard in Washington following the storming of the Capitol building cost at least $ 480 million.
The sources, who asked not to be identified, indicated that this amount did not include the costs incurred by the Washington city budget.
About 25,000 National Guardsmen were deployed in the wake of the violence at the Capitol on January 6, which killed 5 people.
This spread became the largest of its kind since the civil war in the United States in the 19th century, when streets were closed to traffic in central Washington prior to the inauguration of Joe Biden as the country’s new president.
According to estimates by the Pentagon, about 5,000 members of the National Guard will remain in the capital until mid-March, at the request of the Capitol Police.
