The Mexican stock exchange (BMV) trades with a moderate profit at the opening. The local stock market advances at the beginning of its first session of the year, in line with its peers in the United States and other important markets, in a market that keeps its attention on the Covid-19 Omicron variant and its effects.
The benchmark index S&P/BMV IPC, made up of the shares of the 35 issuers with the highest value by capitalization and liquidity in Mexico, gained 0.30% at a level of 53,432.89 points. The index FTSE BIVA, the main indicator of the Institutional Stock Exchange (Biva), advanced 0.43% and is located at the level of 1,105.95 points.

Within the benchmark index, most of the components operate with gains, although a large part of the issuers has not yet seen movement: 20 stocks gain, 10 fall and the rest remain unchanged. Banorte’s shares stand out, with 1.93%, and those of Grupo BMV, with an increase of 1.72 percent.
