CAMILLA, Ga. (WALB) – Deputy Coroner Robbie Willis has confirmed the identity of the victim in the Tyson Foods Plant explosion.
According to Willis, the victim has been identified as 61-year-old Bajarma Batozhatov from Las Vegas, Nevada.
Willis’ initial reports shows that the victim died from the explosion. Heavy machinery was needed to recover the victim’s body after a wall came down on top of her.
Despite social media controversy, Willis says the victim was not a truck driver, but her husband, Tcyden Batozhatov, is. She was a rider in her husbands’ semitruck and was asleep in the sleeper part of the truck.
At the time of the accident, her husband was inside of the building.
According to Willis, the husband was aware that his wife was inside of the sleeper, and he was standing outside with law enforcement after the explosion happened.
Willis says the husband was not sure if his wife survived the accident.
Camilla Fire Chief, Jamie Sullivan told WALB that heavy machinery was needed to pull the wall off the victim and recover her body. At 2:10 p.m. on Friday, Sullivan confirmed with WALB that her body was extracted.
