Former US National Security Adviser John Bolton accused President Donald Trump of seeking to tear apart the Republican Party as the rift between the president and some party leaders widened.
Bolton wrote on Twitter today, Saturday: “It seems that Trump’s last goal is to disrupt his party. He is personally lighting the fire of his political funeral by attacking Republicans who dared to refuse to submit to him.”
Bolton’s position comes after Trump attacked, in a tweet on Friday, Republican No. 2 in the Senate, Senator John Thune, one of the top Republicans who spoke in favor of accepting the results of the electoral college vote and the victory of President-elect Joe Biden, which angered Trump.
In a strong blow to the outgoing president, Republicans in the Senate, on Friday, revoked Trump’s right to veto, for the first time during his term, to pass the defense budget bill despite his strong objections to it 20 days before he left office.
