Boric to businessmen in Mexico

Starting before 8 in the morning this Wednesday, Mexican and Chilean businessmen arrived at the Intercontinental Presidente Hotel in Mexico City to attend breakfast with President Gabriel Boric.

There you could see the Chilean Daniel Rodríguez, director of Femsa, the CEO of Sky Airlines, Juan Ignacio Dougnac, as well as Chilean entrepreneurs present in Mexico, such as Omar Larré from Fintual, Carlos Aravena from Políglota and Antonia Rojas, from ALLVP and Paula Enei of Platanus Venture.

“The world is facing major challenges such as the climate crisis and the post-pandemic economic recovery. For this we want to promote industries such as tourism, which are green and incorporate small businesses, women and are sustainable. We cannot return to ground zero as before the pandemic,” the president said before more than 150 people.

He also spoke of deepening the democracies in the region and mentioned the triumph of the Rejection of the proposal for a new Constitution. “Today there is full awareness, I hope, that Chile needs a new constitution, because the reasons that generated the crisis are still valid. It is true that there are other emergencies, such as security and the rise in the cost of living, but the institutional aspect is still important ”, he pointed out. In the audience there were also parliamentarians such as Karol Cariola, José Miguel Insunza, Francisco Huenchumilla and Carmen Gloria Aravena.

“Foreign investment is a tool to improve people’s quality of life, and foreign investment has to come with a fairer distribution of wealth. For that we must have clear rules and build trust. It sounds obvious, but in my country trust is broken. And in the world too.”

In his speech, he also spoke of the fact that the granting of permits in Chile is very extensive and that is why they are working on the single window for procedures, but without lowering environmental standards.

He said that the food, technology and financial industries are the ones they want to strengthen between Chile and Mexico. “More and more Chilean startups are present in Mexico and vice versa, taking advantage of the opportunities,” she pointed out.

“See Chile as a place to test new technologies just like Amazon, Google are doing. Count on a president who is a friend to Mexican men and women in Chile, ”concluded his speech.
