Boston Celtics’ forward Grant Williams is suspended one game after being ejected for ‘recklessly making contact with’ an official and inappropriate language
Celtics forward Grant Williams was suspended for one game without pay for using inappropriate language and ‘recklessly making contact with’ a referee, the NBA said Wednesday.
The league said he will serve the suspension on Friday night when Boston hosts the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Williams was given a technical foul and then ejected in the fourth quarter of the Celtics´ 120-102 loss at Chicago on Monday night after he was called for an offensive blocking foul while defending Zach LaVine.

He had been knocked over by Bulls forward Zach Lavine and called for a blocking foul.
Upon quickly jumping up from the ground to protest the call Williams bumped into an official, which triggered the ejection.
Crew chief Marc Wilson commented after the game saying Williams contact was deemed intentional.

‘After it is correctly judged a blocking foul on Williams, he jumps up and approaches official [Cheryl] Flores and makes intentional physical contact with her and he is ejected as per rule for this sportsmanship act,’ Davis said.
Video of the incident however paints a much different picture as Williams quickly gets up and appears to be trying to run away from the official and the area where the foul was called to blow off steam, rather than intentionally run into the referee.
Before being ejected from the game Williams was 0-3 from the field and 0-2 from 3-point range with zero points.
