The NBA has fined Boston Celtics forward Grant Williams $20,000 after he spiked the ball into the crowd in a burst of anger as his team was playing the Golden State Warriors on Saturday.

The incident occurred while the Celtics were down 118-101 with 1:52 to go in the game.

As the Warriors called a timeout, Golden State guard shot a three pointer after the whistle had blown.
The rebound went off the glass and headed toward Williams, who spiked it mid-air toward the fans in the crowd.
Officials on the floor at the time saw the incident occur, assessed Williams a technical foul, and he was ejected for the rest of the game – which Golden State won 123-107.
Williams ended his night having played 31 minutes and grabbing four points, two rebounds, and a steal.

While this was a dumb move on Williams’ part, it’s worth noting he was a former straight-A student and was recruited by Harvard and Yale before choosing to go to the University of Tennessee.
Williams was ejected earlier this year for bumping into a referee in a heated contest against the Chicago Bulls.
Boston plays in Los Angeles against the Clippers on Monday night at 10:30pm eastern.
