Algerian star Baghdad Bounedjah blamed the climatic conditions for his country’s failure to achieve victory in its second match in the African Cup of Nations held in Ivory Coast.
The Algerian national team tied 2-2 with Burkina Faso, in the second round of Group D of the 2023 African Cup of Nations on Saturday.
The “Greens” came back from afar in the fatal time against Burkina Faso, to maintain their chances in this continental championship.

Bounedjah played the hero’s role by scoring two goals for Algeria against Burkina Faso. He won the best player award in the match.
He said in a statement to beIN Sports that their desire was to win against Burkina Faso, and despite the mistakes, “we focused and achieved the equalizer in the fatal time.”
The player added, “The heat is very difficult and high, however, we still have a match and a chance to snatch a pass to the final eight.”
He added, “We will work to win the next match for sure, and today we played a great match from my point of view, had it not been for the mistakes.”

The Algerian national team had settled for a 1-1 draw in its first match against Angola.
Bounedjah’s teammates are awaiting a fateful confrontation against Mauritania next Tuesday, while Burkina Faso faces Angola.
Coach Djamel Belmadi said, “The match against Mauritania in the last round will be like a final match. What we need now is some rest, then recharging the batteries again.”
He added, “If we want to go far in the tournament, we will face more difficult matches similar to the confrontation with Burkina Faso.”

The Burkinabe national team leads the fourth group standings with 4 points, followed by Algeria (two points), Angola in third place (one point), and Mauritania in fourth place with no points.
This is the fifth match in which the Algerian national team has failed to achieve victory in the African Cup of Nations since its victory in the final of the 2019 edition over Senegal with a clean goal.
