Social media creator Alexandria Cheplak, while facing a critical health battle, posted an emotional video from her hospital bed appealing for help to see Grammy-winning Christian artist Brandon Lake perform live. The plea quickly went viral, demonstrating the profound impact of Lake’s music.
In her video, Cheplak detailed a harrowing year-long health journey involving numerous heart surgeries and over 40 nights in the hospital. She explained that through it all, worship music—particularly songs by Brandon Lake—has been a constant source of strength.
“The one thing that has gotten us all through is worship music,” Cheplak said, noting that his songs were played before every scan and surgery. “My faith has just really kept me going.”
With Lake’s upcoming Nevada concert sold out, Cheplak asked her followers for a favor: to tag the artist in the comments to get his attention. “My family and I would love, love to just be there… to just worship and praise together,” she concluded.
The response was immediate and overwhelming. Within 12 hours, over 1,100 users had tagged Lake, flooding the comments with messages of support. Actor Taylor Lautner also joined the effort, writing, “Lexi is a beautiful human inside and out, just like you.”
The social media campaign succeeded, as Lake soon responded directly to Cheplak. “I gotchu Lexi!!” he wrote. “Shooting you a DM and we’ll make sure you all get tickets and hosted for the best night!!!”
Speaking with Country Now, Cheplak revealed the severity of her ordeal, which includes 30 heart surgeries in total, four this year alone. A recent procedure left her on life support. She specifically credited Lake’s collaboration with Jelly Roll, “Hard Fought Hallelujah,” with giving her the courage to endure her “hardest battle yet.”
“Witnessing these songs live will be so healing and special for me,” she explained, referencing a specific lyric about lifting heavy hands in praise.
In a recent update, Cheplak shared she has been discharged from the hospital, though she will require home oxygen. “Thank you Jesus,” she wrote. “This heart warrior won’t stop fighting until I stop breathing.”
