The Brazilian Ministry of Health announced, on Saturday evening, that it had recorded 57,472 new cases of Coronavirus infection, a tangible increase in this indicator compared with Friday’s data, with 1,212 deaths due to the disease.
The Ministry stated, in a daily statistics, that the number of registered infections with Coronavirus “Covid-19” in the country during the past 24 hours increased by 57,472, bringing the total number to 10139148 cases.
This comes after the index of new infections with the Coronavirus in Brazil on February 17 reached 56,766 cases, on February 18, 51879, and on February 19, 57472.
The ministry also stated that it had detected 1,212 new deaths caused by the disease, bringing the death toll from the pandemic in the country to the level of 245,977 people, with a lethality rate of 2.4%.
The daily death index from the virus on February 17 reached 1150, on February 18, 1367 cases, and on February 19, 51050.
Brazil recorded the second largest death toll from the virus in the world after the United States, and the third highest number of infections after the United States and India.
However, the health authorities confirmed that the official statistics may differ significantly from the real numbers because the tests did not include all the injured.
