French police arrested a Brazilian citizen on Wednesday for possessing fake Olympic medals and selling them on a Paris street.
According to the France Info website, the police arrested a 39-year-old Brazilian in Paris on the sidelines of the 2024 Olympic Games on charges of selling fake Olympic medals.
The Brazilian fraudster arrived in France on July 14 with 11 counterfeit coins in his possession, and was arrested in the 12th arrondissement of the capital.

850 medals in his home
During a subsequent search of the Brazilian fraudster's home, investigators found approximately 850 fake medals bearing the Paris 2024 logo. The Paris prosecutor's office confirmed his arrest, and he was summoned on Wednesday on charges of “possession of counterfeit goods without proof of their origin, and selling them on the streets.”
The man will be tried on charges of “possession of counterfeit goods” and “street selling”, with a prison sentence of up to three years for possession of counterfeit goods and another six months for illegal selling.
