Recife (Brazil), Nov 5 (.) .- The Brazilian Minister of Infrastructure, Tarcísio Gomes de Freitas, who this Saturday begins a tour of Europe and Asia, affirmed this Friday that it is “impossible” to develop the ambitious program of concessions of the Government without including Spain, one of the great global “players” in the sector.
“It is impossible to make concessions and not include Spain. The connection between Brazil and Spain is historic,” the minister said in a telephone interview with EFE in reference to the Spanish participation in the privatization and bidding program advanced by the Government of President Jair Bolsonaro .
“Brazil has enormous appreciation for Spanish infrastructure operators, who are among the best ‘players’ (players) in the world” and the country already has “companies positioned” as Abertis (MC :), Acciona (MC :), Aena (MC 🙂 and others that already act in the Latin American giant, added the minister.
De Freitas indicated that for the next subway and highway line auctions throughout the country there is interest in having more Spanish companies join the bidding process, such as Sacyr (MC :), ACS (MC 🙂 and Ferrovial-Cintra.
“The Spanish companies never left the country, even in the moments of worst crisis they suffered with us, but they never abandoned us and kept their positions. There are many companies and all very important,” said the also military construction engineer.
ITINERANT PRESENTATION
De Freitas leads a tour for an itinerant presentation of the “Super Infra” between November 6 and 9 in Paris and after the meeting with businessmen in the French capital the tour will continue in Milan (Italy) on 9 and 11 and from 11 to 13 in Madrid.
The tour will conclude between November 13 and 17 in the United Arab Emirates with meetings in Dubai and the capital Abu Dhabi, which are also part of President Bolsonaro’s official visit to that country.
In the United Arab Emirates, the focus of the meetings will be with the Sovereign Funds of Asian countries and participation in the Invest in Brazil Forum, parallel to Expo Dubai.
“In the last ‘road show’ that we recently had in the United States, we saw that foreign investors are very interested, with confidence, and have great knowledge in the new railway concessions, sanitation auctions, in Eletrobras and the privatization of ports and airports “, he stressed.
After the success of the “Super Infra”, as the bidding season between October and December was called for the transport sector and in which investments of 23,000 million reais (about 4,181 million dollars) were already secured, the bet is now for expanding the railway network.
With the conclusion of the tenders for the final sections of the North-South and Transnordestina axes, which will connect mining and agricultural poles with the main ports, the minister trusts that this will be a “starter” to catapult passenger rail transport.
“I have no doubts that it will be a first step and that is why we are giving investors flexibility to exploit the railway network and we will soon inaugurate the Americana-Campinas-Sao Paulo intercity train,” he said.
