Kentucky Governor Says Friends of His Died in Louisville Shooting
Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear said he lost friends in Monday’s mass shooting at a Louisville bank.
“It’s horrible. I have a very close friend who didn’t make it today, and I have another close friend who didn’t either,” Beshear said during a news conference Monday morning.
He added that he has another friend who was injured “who I hope will pull through.”
Beshear claimed that the bank where the shooting occurred is his bank.
The attacker is believed to be a former bank employee, according to police

Police believe the “solo shooter” in the Louisville shooting “had a connection to the bank” where at least four people were killed.
As authorities work to establish that connection, they said it appears it was a former employee, according to a police statement.
Police responded within three minutes of the call this morning and found the suspect “almost immediately,” Louisville Metropolitan Police Deputy Chief Paul Humphrey said at a news conference. The suspect was still firing shots, according to the chief.
Police exchanged fire with the attacker, who died at the scene, it added.
Police are trying to determine if the attacker died from the gunshots or from a self-inflicted wound.

The shooter is dead, Louisville police said, and there is no active threat at this time.

Louisville Police said calls for an “active offender” were received at 8:30 am ET at the Old National Bank.
They described the suspect as a “lone shooter” who died.
The shooting left four dead inside the building and sent six others to a local hospital, police said.

A man called 911 after receiving a “traumatic” call from his wife, who informed him of the shooting

A man who spoke to local broadcaster WLKY said he received a call from his wife informing him that an attacker was active and that she was locked in a vault at Old National Bank.
The man, Caleb Goodlett, called 911, but officers were already aware.
Goodlett described the call as “traumatic” and said it happened at 8:30 a.m. His wife called him from a phone inside the bank vault, where he was hiding.
The man said his wife “is fine.”

The Louisville Metropolitan Police said Monday they were responding to “an active shooter” in the 300 block of East Main Street in Louisville, Kentucky, adding that “there are multiple injuries.”
The Louisville metropolitan area, located along the Kentucky-Indiana border, has a population of approximately 630,000 people as of the 2020 census.
The 300 block of East Main Street is bordered on the east by minor league ballpark Louisville Slugger Field and includes a bank, dental office, furniture store, and the Louisville Ballet.

At least four people were killed in the shooting Monday in Louisville, Kentucky, police said in a report from the scene, while six others were transported to the University of Louisville Hospital, including an officer with “various injuries.” .
The status of the injured being transported to the hospital is unknown at this time.
A police officer who is at the scene confirmed that the attacker is dead and the circumstances of his death are unknown. There is no active danger at this time, they said.

Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear said he was heading to the scene of the shooting after “multiple injuries” were reported in downtown Louisville.
“LMPD has confirmed a shooting situation in downtown Louisville with multiple victims,” Beshear said in a tweet. “I’m heading there now. Please pray for all the families affected and for the city of Louisville.”
