(Trends Wide) — Brian Laundrie’s family attorney on Friday released eight pages from Laundrie’s notebook that was found near his remains in Florida in October of last year, according to a news release obtained by Trends Wide affiliate WINK.
In the notebook, Laundrie wrote in part: “Sorry to everyone this will affect. Gabby was the love of my life but I know that she was adored by many. I feel very sorry for her family, because I love them.”
On another page, he wrote that Petito was injured and that he tried to help her.
“I don’t know the extent of Gabby’s injuries, just that she was in extreme pain. I ended her life, I thought it was merciful, that it was what she wanted, but now I see all the mistakes I made. I panicked. I was shocked. But from the moment I decided to take the pain away, I knew I couldn’t go on without her,” he wrote.
Petito’s cause of death was ruled strangulation and manner of death homicide, Teton County Coroner Dr. Brent Blue said.
The Laundrie family’s attorney, Steven Bertolino, said he released the notebook pages after a meeting with the FBI and an attorney for the Petito family, where they collected Petito’s personal belongings.
“As part of this return of property in FBI custody, I was given Brian’s notebook. I would like to share with the public the note that the FBI alluded to on January 21, 2022, that Brian claimed responsibility for the death of Gabby Petito,” Bertolino said.
Bertolino released eight pages from the notebook and their order in the notebook that was recovered is unknown.
On the last published page, Laundrie wrote: “I have committed suicide by this creek in the hope that the annimals (sic) can tear me apart. This might make some of your family members happy.”
The last words on the page, written in a different pen than the previous ones, read: “Please pack up all my things. Gabby hated people who litter.”
