The online dispute between singer-songwriter Zach Bryan and his ex-girlfriend, podcaster Brianna LaPaglia, has intensified with a new series of public accusations nearly two months after their breakup.
The conflict reignited earlier this month following the release of Bryan’s new songs, including “River Washed Hair.” After the Grammy winner denied online speculation that the song was about LaPaglia, commenting, “Lmfao… this is not about whatever she has going on,” she responded with serious allegations on social media.
LaPaglia claimed she had “turned down 12 million dollars to share my abuse” and alleged that Bryan’s previous partners had signed non-disclosure agreements. She also dismissed the song’s relevance, adding, “his songs aren’t about anyone he writes them drunk at 6am.”
In response, Bryan posted a screenshot to his Instagram Stories of a lengthy, amicable text message allegedly sent by LaPaglia from an earlier time. The message included lines like, “I’ll never forget the love I felt for you at one time in this life! Timing was wrong and you weren’t ready and that’s okay… If you ever need a friend that gets it, I’ll always be here.”
On July 14, LaPaglia escalated the feud by sharing a screenshot of a text message she claimed was from Bryan’s management team. The message appeared to outline proposals for an NDA, with one option being a flat $10 million and another including a house plus $3 million. “And I rest my case! His manager texting me their options for NDA,” she captioned the image.
In a series of subsequent Instagram Stories, LaPaglia addressed the situation further. She acknowledged sending the conciliatory text Bryan had posted but framed it as her “being nice.” She accused Bryan of initiating the recent conflict, writing, “I am simply responding to him attacking me. I want nothing to do with this man.”
LaPaglia asserted her claims were truthful, stating, “I have not told one lie ever,” and later added, “I was offered 12.9 million dollars to stay quiet… I chose none because I have morals. End of story.” She concluded by stating she would not share further details to avoid reliving trauma but would continue to share her experiences to help other women.
Following their split in May, Bryan had posted a statement saying, “Brianna and me have broken up with each other and I respect and love her with every ounce of my heart… I thought it would be beneficial for both of us to go our different ways.”
Bryan’s representatives have been contacted for comment. The singer is scheduled to perform three shows at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey from July 18-20.
