Britain considered that the European Union realized it was wrong with a short-term attempt to restrict some exports of Covid-19 vaccines, based on the emergency clause related to Britain’s exit from the bloc.
British Cabinet Affairs Minister Michael Gove told Sky News: “They realized that they were wrong and I think we can now focus on making sure that our vaccination program is successful.”
Michael Gove added that he had spoken to Vice President of the European Commission, Maros Sivkovic, and they agreed on the need to reorganize relations.
Within hours on Friday, the European Union retreated from using Article 16 to restrict exports of Covid-19 vaccines across the Irish border to Britain, after this measure caused waves of discontent across Northern Ireland, London and Dublin.
